Foreshots Photography was created in 2014 by Toronto-based photographer Michael Yaneff, and provides high quality, affordable photography services to individuals and organizations across the GTA.
Our Story
Michael chose the name "Foreshots" to express both his Scottish ancestry and the way he hopes to preserve moments. The word is a term used in whisky making, describing the very first spirit to come off the still. This liquid is very strong and is usually re-distilled in later runs. For him, “Foreshots” also represents the first photographs of a scene - the ones that capture those first impressions and candid moments. At Foreshots Photography, we aim to be there “in the moment,” capturing images as they happen. For this reason, the name of the company has both photographic meaning as well as a connection to a rich history and tradition.
Michael
I've loved taking pictures since I took my first photography class in high school. And I'm inspired by the love I have for my home city. I have photographed many different subjects, scenes, and moments. There's a picture around every corner.
Mandy
Mandy Yaneff makes up the other half of this husband and wife team as Second Photographer and Photography Assistant. For events that are really big, or just for that extra perspective, Mandy is a great addition to Foreshots Photography!
Mandy's photographic passions are birds, wildlife, and portraiture, and her background in the visual arts gives her a unique viewpoint and beautiful design aesthetic.
